Problem
Our customer wanted to minimize field failures from moisture and inadvertent but inevitable exposure from water by First Responders.
Solution
A hydrophobic nano-coating which is vapor applied is able to permeate all the nook and crannies of the device and “seal-it”. The devices are able to achieve an IPX-7 rating. IST’s and our customer’s engineering team create a custom fixture to accommodate several hundred devices in our coating chamber which reduced the cost to several pennies per device using a large batch format.
Result
Our customer was extremely satisfied and placed our RPX into their production flow. They also found that the IST RPX was useful for many other applications like plasma cleaning and in promoting adhesion in other parts of their manufacturing process.
