We were able to help the customer design a specialized coating that met their needs.

Problem


Plastics in the Bio Industry are both Good and Bad. The Good: low cost, bio-compatible, moldable, etc. The Bad: the surface properties are not the best it could be. Small droplets of precious assay can be left on surfaces.


Solution


A nano-coating can tune the surface properties. A special coating will alter the surface to be like Teflon® and be more hydrophobic. There are also alternative chemicals with ultra-low slip angles (lower hysteresis) so precious droplets won’t stick and be left behind. Alternatively, we can deposit glass like coatings for improved bio-compatibility and hydrophilicity.
