Water-Safe Electronics
With the application of a special nano-coating, Water-Safe electronics can be created by depositing a barrier to reduce electrochemical migration (e.g. corrosion) allowing electronics to be exposed to immersion and other partial exposures. The use of nano-coatings mitigates device failures from inadvertent exposures. Note that Water-Safe electronics is not the same as water-proof in which devices are intended for immersion and underwater operations.
Nano-coatings are commonly used in devices which have stringent thickness tolerances like in many hand-held devices or hearing devices where conventional conformal coatings add too much thickness to the device and they lose their sleek designs and tight packaging requirements.
